Issue 12 of Pulp Magazine has won the D & AD Wood Pencil Award. The premonitory cover with Steven Guarnaccia's self-portrait (with a pencil for hair) took the award for Magazine & Newspaper Design/Trade Magazines 2018.

D & AD was founded with the aim of stimulating, accrediting and rewarding creative excellence in design and advertising.
Since 1962, D & AD has inspired a community of creative thinkers by celebrating and stimulating the finest design and advertising projects. D & AD Professional Awards are globally recognized as one of the very highest creative acknowledgements, entered and followed by the world's best.
Yet it is much more than just a "prize": it is also inspiration for ideas and supports professional development through training programs worldwide.
As a non-profit advertising and design association, all D & AD budget surpluses are used directly in programs such as New Blood, inspiring the next generation of creative talent and stimulating the creative industry to work for a fairer and more sustainable future.
D & AD is an organization managed by its members and guided by an elected Board of Trustees. Every year, D & AD appoints a Chairman of the Board of Trustees to guide and define topics for the following year. The Chairman's task is to galvanize creative communities and bring them together to inspire and celebrate the best design and advertising projects.

Inasmuch, D & AD has kept abreast of the field by activating and celebrating the finest design and advertising work for over 50 years. And over this time, the iconic D & AD Pencil has become an Award representing the pinnacle of creative excellence.
